Those who have walked around Manhattan’s west side recently may have noticed the district has undergone a dramatic revitalization. What was once an underdeveloped area above railroad tracks has been transformed into Hudson Yards and Manhattan West, two world-class neighborhoods that are now home to premier offices, culinary experiences, retail, hospitality and entertainment.
The city's former main post office building, the James A. Farley Building, has also been redeveloped into Moynihan Train Hall, and the High Line — Moynihan Connector opened this summer, unlocking seamless access to a beloved public space and pedestrian path in New York City.
The west side is now a buzzing ecosystem of employees, locals, and visitors, and is easily accessible to the rest of the city and tri-state area due to the presence of New York Penn Station and Moynihan Train Hall. For residents of New Jersey traveling to Manhattan’s west side for business or leisure, the commute is effortless from Secaucus Junction.
For anyone traveling into Manhattan, the Edison ParkFast parking lot, located next to the Frank R. Lautenberg Station at Secaucus Junction, provides an affordable and accessible alternative to city parking lots. Open and patrolled 24 hours a day, the Edison ParkFast lot offers $100 off of a monthly membership through the end of October 2023.
After parking at Edison ParkFast, the train from Frank R. Lautenberg Station to New York Penn Station takes as little as 15 minutes. Tickets start at just $4.25 for one-way trips and $8.50 for round trips, and can be pre-purchased at ticket offices, ticket vending machines or through the free NJ TRANSIT Mobile App.
Upon arriving in Manhattan, the journey through the west side is enjoyable; pedestrians emerging from Moynihan Train Hall on 9th Avenue can walk directly across the street to the eight-acre Manhattan West development. Manhattan West Plaza now feeds into the High Line, which offers an unobstructed path through Hudson Yards and down the west side all the way to the West Village.
As temperatures drop and you settle back into a regular routine this autumn, enjoy a convenient commute to the office by parking in Secaucus and taking a quick train into NYC. For those looking to savor the crisp fall air while enjoying unmatched dining experiences, a shopping spree, a luxury hotel stay, or a variety of entertainment opportunities, a day trip or staycation in the city offers the perfect weekend getaway, with none of the travel stress.
