Free Community Block Party In Livingston: Food, Rides, Games, Kids Activities

The community event is designed to bring residents and law enforcement together.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The following news release comes courtesy of the Livingston Police Department. Find out how to post announcements or events to your local Patch site.

The Livingston Police Department is hosting its second annual Community Block Party on Sunday, September 21 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Oval. This free community event is designed to bring residents and law enforcement together. Citizens can enjoy an afternoon of fun for the whole family with free food, rides, carnival games, a petting zoo, craft tent, pony rides, chalk walk, demonstrations from robotics programs, and a touch-a-truck experience. Kids can get their faces painted and watch balloon artists create amazing designs.

In addition to the festivities, the event will feature exciting displays from local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Attendees will be able to see police and emergency vehicles up close, meet K-9 Units, and watch a helicopter land. Shown in the photo above is Atlantic Health Air One, which is scheduled to land at 3:00 p.m. during the event. There will also be a special appearance by McGruff the Crime Dog.

The Livingston Fire Department and First Aid Squad will be holding their Annual Open House at the event. There will be fire apparatus and ambulances to explore, and a live vehicle extrication demonstration where attendees can see how these first responders rescue people from a car after an accident. In addition, don't miss the Rubber Duck Water Slide, raising money for the St. Barnabas Burn Center Foundation.

Youth Appreciation Week’s Town-Wide Campout will lead into the Block Party. Livingston families are invited to come to the Oval beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20 for games and activities, a campfire, a movie under the stars and then camp out into Sunday morning.
