Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?

I was raised in Lake Telemark, a Scandinavian community in Morris County’s Rockaway Township that used to be referred to as “Little Norway.” My affinity for fitness started young.
For as long as I can remember, I have been involved in sports. When I was 8 years old I was working out to "Get in Shape Girl" in my living room. If you grew up on the '80s, you probably know what I'm talking about. It was a popular workout from the '80s for young girls with catchy music, ribbon twirling, verbal workout cues and light dumbbells. I loved it so much I even wrote about it in my childhood diary that I still have.

For as long as I can remember, I have been involved in sports and outdoor activities. I’m Norwegian, so naturally I love downhill and cross-country skiing (wink, wink), and they remain huge passions in my life. I did track and field in high school, throwing the javelin (I even held my school record, along with two other girls, for the three-women team throw!) Then there was soccer, softball and traveling around the country with my competition cheerleading team.

So, yes, I’ve always been active … but I never felt like I was completely in shape. (Sound familiar?) My true fitness journey began in 2009 when I trained for and completed my first full marathon. It was a rewarding experience that kicked off a renewed interest in my physical fitness. But just a few years later, in 2017, my world nearly stopped when I found out I had thyroid cancer and had to have a thyroidectomy. After my recovery, I decided to pay closer attention to the foods I was choosing. (I was cancer-free, and determined to do right by my body!) By learning to combine healthy eating with an active lifestyle, I began to reap the benefits of feeling fully healthy, satisfied, and toned—and I haven’t looked back!

Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?
Segev: Fitness. Nutrition. Motivation. Results= HAPPINESS

Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Segev: We have hundreds of members, and the biggest challenge is making sure they are continually motivated to help achieve their fitness goals.

Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Segev: Seeing members daily reaping benefits of healthier and happier lifestyle in their fitness journey. I'm constantly receive calls/texts from our members, excitedly sharing how much better they feel, they're off meds, their blood work has improved. This is why I love what I do.

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Segev: We are much different that your "regular" gym. We truly are the only gym that is super welcoming and fitness for all levels. Think of an ultra supportive fitness community.

Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Segev: Do what you love and it won't feel like work.

Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?
Segev: Working on exciting workout plans for our next 10 Week Challenge.
