Livingston Mayor Ed Meinhardt and Essex County residents came together in a powerful show of unity on Oct. 5 for the fourth annual “Let’s Save Ma Breast Cancer Walk” at the Livingston Oval Gazebo. The event, organized by Sanskriti of New Jersey and Let’s Save Ma, founded by Dr. Deval Gadhvi, a West Orange resident and breast cancer survivor, drew more than 150 participants dressed in pink to raise awareness and support for underserved women facing barriers to early detection.

“As a physician and survivor, I know firsthand how critical early detection is. To see my neighbors and community rally together in Livingston—and to partner with organizations like Sanskriti of New Jersey—means we are saving lives right here in Essex County”, said Dr. Deval Gadhvi.

A major factor in the walk’s success was the collaboration with Sanskriti of New Jersey, a leading cultural and community organization. Sanskriti helped coordinate the event and brought members and families to participate, demonstrating how cultural and health partnerships can create meaningful impact. Their involvement underscored the importance of engaging South Asian communities in breast cancer education and early screening efforts.

Local Impact

Let’s Save Ma has hosted multiple breast health education sessions and screening camps throughout Essex County, with outreach efforts touching thousands of women annually.

Proceeds from the walk will help fund free mammograms, educational workshops, and community health fairs for Essex County residents.

Let’s Save Ma extends special thanks to Sanskriti of NJ, sponsors, and the many volunteers who made this year’s walk possible.
