Livingston Snowstorm, Thanksgiving Holiday to Interrupt Public Services

Township offices will be closed, garbage pickup postponed for Thanksgiving. Snow may interrupt other public services in Livingston.

As Livingston gears up for a Thanksgiving Nor’easter that could bring 4 to 8 inches of snow to the township, local officials remind residents that some public services may be suspended or rescheduled in the event of a snowstorm. Services may also be interrupted due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Livingston Township offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28 for Thanksgiving. The municipal offices will reopen with regular hours on Monday, Dec. 1.

Despite the mountains of trash that can accumulate after cooking a large Thanksgiving meal, garbage will not be picked up on Thanksgiving day. Recycling

Recycling pickup on Wednesday, Nov. 26 (Zone 3) will be rescheduled in the event of a snowstorm or unsafe weather conditions. Recycling pickup in zones four and five will be pushed forward one day in the event of a snowstorm on Wednesday.

Recycling will not be picked up on Thursday, Nov. 27, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, Livingston Township officials noted. Instead, recycling pickup will moved forward one day. Residents who live in Zone 4 will have their recycling picked up on Friday, while those who live in Zone 5 will have their recycling picked up on Saturday.

Heavy Trash Pickup

On Tuesday, Nov. 25, Livingston Township Officials issued a reminder for local residents, stating that heavy trash is only picked up on the last regular trash pickup of each month.

“If you have heavy trash items to dispose of, be sure to put them out on your last regularly scheduled garbage pickup day,” a representative from the Township stated. If you have questions, please call Waste Industries Customer Service directly at 973-761-0009.”
