Local Justice: Decisions in Municipal Court

Court has busy docket.

Livingston Municipal Court handled seven cases.

In State v. Kashandra Parker, of Vauxhall, and Andrea Jamison, of Newark, the State charged each of the co-defendants with shoplifting $76 worth of clothing from Lord & Taylor. They pled guilty to the charge. The Court sentenced each to 10 days of community service, and imposed upon each a $400 fine, $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO penalty and a $75 safe neighborhood fee.

In State v. Kenyatta Parker, of East Orange, the State charged Parker with shoplifting $47 worth of clothing from American Eagle.  Parker pled guilty to an amended charge of theft. The Court imposed a $300 fine, $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO penalty and a $75 safe neighborhood fee.

In State v. Maria Polanco, of Orange, the State charged Polanco with shoplifting $106 worth of jewelry from Sears. Polanco pled guilty to an amended charge of a State disorderly person offense. The Court imposed a $300 fine, $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO penalty and a $75 safe neighborhood fee.

In State v. Sharon Grosso, of Belleville, the State charged Grosso with issuing a bad check of $83.55 to Shoprite. Grosso made restitution and pled guilty to an amended charge of creating a disturbance. The Court imposed a $100 fine and $33 in court costs.

In State v. Chris Garrison, the Pretzel Maker, the Health Department charged (1) keeping food in a refrigerator which did not keep the temperature at or below 41 degrees; (2) missing a ceiling tile; and (3) having a toilet leaking water. All the problems were remedied and he pled to the first charge and the latter two charges were dismissed. The Court imposed a $250 fine and $33 in court costs.

In State v. Linda Mitchell, of Walnut Street, Livingston, the State charged Mitchell with a noise nuisance (music too loud).  She pled guilty to the charge. The Court imposed a $100 fine and $33 in court costs.
