Local Justice: Decisions in Municipal Court
Court handles related cases concerning sisters.

In State v. Jeannie Rivera of Staten Island, the State charged Jeannie Rivera with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. The charges were all dismissed when the investigation revealed that her sister Vanessa Rivera was the one who should be charged.
In State v. Vanessa Rivera of Staten Island, the State charged Vanessa Rivera with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
The defendant pled guilty to the first two charges and the third charge (possession of a CDS in a motor vehicle) was dismissed as part of the plea. The Court entered a conditional discharge for 1 year, and imposed a $500 DEDR (Drug Enforcement and Demand Reduction) fee, $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO penalty, a $75 safe neighborhood fee, a $50 lab fee, a $50 DARE fine, and a $75 conditional discharge fee.
