Court handles two unrelated shoplifting cases from Sears.
In State v. Patricia Mielnicki of Roseland, the State charged Mielnicki with shoplifting $48 worth of costume jewelry and baby items from Sears. Mielnicki pled guilty to the charge. The Court sentenced Mielnicki to 10 days of community service, and imposed a $300 fine, $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO penalty and a $75 safe neighborhood fee.
In State v. Zoila Miranda of Maplewood, the State charged Miranda with shoplifting $86 worth of costume jewelry from Sears and also charged her with hindering apprehension by providing a false name and address. Miranda pled guilty to an amended charge of theft. As part of the plea agreement, the second charge was dismissed. The Court imposed upon Miranda a $300 fine, $33 in court costs, a $50 VCCO penalty and a $75 safe neighborhood fee.
