ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Mosquito spraying will be taking place along the Passaic River in Essex County on Wednesday, including Fairfield, West Caldwell, Roseland, Millburn and Livingston.
Essex County officials gave more details about the spraying, which will be done via helicopter:
“On Wednesday, Aug. 14, we will partner with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to conduct an aerial control operation. Residents will see a low flying helicopter from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., weather permitting. Areas along the Passaic River in Fairfield, West Caldwell, Roseland, Millburn and Livingston will be treated with a granular BTI. This is a natural substance that is harmless to humans and animals. For more information, call our mosquito control hotline at 973-239-3366, ext. 2480 or our Public Works Department at 973-226-8500, ext. 0.”
Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. said the spraying will help control the mosquito population in the western section of the county.
