The surveillance video speaks volumes. But those who prosecuted former Rutgers University and Baltimore Ravens football star Ray Rice’ for his assault on then-fiancee Janay Palmer in February aren’t saying much.

A day after he was cut by the Ravens and the NFL suspended Rice indefinitely, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the law enforcement agency that handled the investigation and prosecution, and ultimately determined Rice’s enrollment in a pre-trial intervention program was enough, has remained silent on the issue.

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley called Rice’s actions in the video “horrible, shocking, and reprehensible,” and Rutgers coach Kyle Flood called Monday a ”sad day for Rutgers football.” Many others, including sports commentators, have taken the ACPO to task for not doing more about the Atlantic City incident.
