Route 10 Resurfacing in Livingston Begins This Week

$2.8-million westbound roadway upgrades, paving to cover five-mile stretch to Hanover.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation announced a plan Tuesday to resurface more than five miles of Route 10 westbound in the township beginning later this week, officials said in a release.

NJDOT’s contractor, Intercounty Paving Inc. will begin paving the roadway at night from the Eisenhower Parkway/Northfield Road traffic circle in Livingston to just east of Jefferson Road in Hanover, the statement said.

Preliminary work on the $2.8 million project will include preparing the site and sign installation, followed by drainage upgrades and curb work, officials said. Part of this work will require the closure of the roadway’s shoulder.

NJDOT officials said crew’s initial work will involve milling and resurfacing the roadway before new asphalt will be laid on the surface. Officials hope the new roadway surface will improve motorist safety and extend the life of the roadway, including all traffic lanes, turn lanes and shoulders.

The work will also include the laying of Americans with Disability Act (ADA)-compliant curb ramps where needed.
