Pawrade Raises $2,500 for Livingston Animal Shelter
Dog lovers came out in droves on Sept. 28 to raise funds for the Mount Pleasant animal shelter in Livingston. The pet-friendly event raised $2,500 for the shelter which houses homeless animals in need. More than 60 people marched in the Pawrade, and watched with rapture as their furry friends competed in a Doggie Costume Contest. The winner was Elvis, an adorable English Bulldog who posed as his namesake in a white jumpsuit and sunglasses. The event as raised more than $8,000 for the animal shelter since the first Pawrade in 2008.
Leaf Bags Available Free of Charge for Livingston Residents
Do you live on a County road or near Route 10? If so, you can obtain leaf bags free of charge. From Monday, Oct. 6, through Monday, Dec, 1, residents can pick up leaf bags at the Public Works Garage, located at 235 S. Livingston Avenue. Click on the link above to learn more.
Metro YMCA Commits to Ensuring Child Safety With New Leader
The Metro Y has appointed Maureen Simmons as the senior director of child safety this month. Simmons will lead the efforts to educate 21,000 people and train 30 percent of all Y members to protect children from child sexual abuse and implent prevention policies.
