Young Artists Featured in Teen Arts Jam 2012

More than a dozen area high schools are represented in Caldwell College’s juried art exhibition, Teen Arts Jam 2012.

The seventh annual exhibition features over 200 works of art, including photography, sculpture, still life, portraiture, assemblage, figure drawing, ceramics and DVD presentations. The exhibit is on display in the Visceglia Gallery through Wednesday, Feb. 29, when there will be a ceremony at the college announcing the winners.

Caldwell’s Teen Arts Jam is designed to advance students' ideas and skills in the visual arts, and provides an opportunity to share their work with the community.

Liz Seaton and Tony Cuneo from the faculty of the Yard School of Art at the Montclair Art Museum will serve as jurors this year and select award winners. 

Prizes include art supplies certificates from Jerry’s Art Outlet in West Orange and six Caldwell College scholarship awards of $1,000 if the student chooses to attend Caldwell.

“These students take their work very seriously and their teachers clearly provide so much support and inspiration for their efforts,” stated Kendall Baker in a release. Baker is director of the Visceglia Gallery and a fine arts professor at Caldwell College.

The Visceglia Gallery will host a reception in the gallery for the young artists, their teachers and supporters from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 6 p.m., in the rear of the Student Center Cafeteria’s Upper Lounge. 

The gallery is open to the public daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
