2021 New Jersey Marathon, Half-Marathon Cancelled
Race officials decided to cancel the race after trying to work out a deal with local municipalities.
LONG BRANCH, NJ – Organizers of the New Jersey Marathon announced Monday that the in-person New Jersey Marathon would not occur this October.
In a statement on the race’s website, organizers stated that they were working with the City of Long Branch and neighboring municipalities on trying to come up with a plan for holding the race, but with Long Branch officials deciding to hold off on large events this fall due to the Delta variant, there was nothing more that race officials can do.
“We recognize your investment in the Novo Nordisk New Jersey Marathon, financially, physically, and mentally. Preparing for one of our races requires a tremendous amount of time and energy. We share your disappointment as the prospect of watching all of you cross the finish line motivated our team through this year,” race officials said in a statement.
