Annual Eatontown 5K Race Set for Labor Day

The 18th annual event is organized by the Eatontown Recreation Advisory Committee and offers a walk or run for all levels of athletes.

 

Area runners can celebrate Labor Day with a special race in Eatontown.

The Eatontown Recreation Advisory Committee is sponsoring the 18th annual 5K Eatontown Labor Day Race on Monday, Sept. 3.

The race, which will be held rain or shine, begins with race registration at the Eatontown Sheraton Hotel on Route 35 from 7 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The 1-mile run begins at 9 a.m. and the 5K run/fitness walk starts at 9:15 a.m.

Race fees are as follows:

• 5K Run/Fitness Walk: $20

• 1-Mile Run (Adults): $15

• 1-Mile Run (Children 13 and under): $10

All race proceeds will go toward future recreational program hosted by the Eatontown Recreation Committee.

Awards are as follows:

• 1-Mile Run: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place overall and all children 13 and under receive medals

• 5K Run: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall, 1st, 2nd, 3rd place male and female finishers, age group awards; 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and up

• Mayor's Trophy: Awarded to first male and female Eatontown resident finishers of the 5K Run

Pre- and post-race refreshments will be served by the Sheraton and all registered participants will receive a raffle ticker for a prize drawing for the post-race raffle.
