Broadway To Be Closed For A Week For Railroad Crossing Repairs

The project in Long Branch starts on Thursday and ends on Aug. 31

LONG BRANCH, NJ - Motorists can expect Broadway to be closed for more than a week as work is done at the railroad crossing, according to Long Branch police.

The work will begin at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23 and end at 7 a.m. on Aug. 31.

A detour will be in place at the railroad crossing. Eastbound traffic will use Morris Avenue, Chelsea Avenue and South Fifth Avenue. Westbound traffic will use 7th Avenue; Joline Avenue and Branchport Avenue, police said.

The state Department of Transportation will remove the current railroad crossing and a new concrete crossing will be installed, with new asphalt approaches, police said.

Local police will coordinate the traffic detour.
