Cloudy Skies, Becoming Partly Sunny Later On Monmouth Beaches

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ - The National Weather Service is calling for mostly cloudy skies until the sun comes out later this afternoon.

Highs will be in the low 80s, with northwest winds around 10 miles per hour, switching to the north in the afternoon.

There's a low risk of rip currents today. But rips can still occur near jetties and other structures. Some beaches are still not guarded on weekdays, so do your homework first to find one that is. Never swim on an unguarded beach and never swim alone or at night. Don't be a statistic.

Waves will be from 2 to 3 feet, with southerly swells of 2 feet. The ocean water temperature has slowly warmed up to 66 degrees.

The ultraviolet index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high. So bring the sunscreen if you want to try working on a tan. There is no lightning threat for today.

Low tide at Belmar arrived at 6:44 a.m. High tide will roll in at 1:06 p.m., followed by another low tide at 7:02 p.m.
