Eatontown First Responders Revive Infant During Fire Call

The infant was discovered as first responders were evacuating apartment complex residents due to a carbon monoxide leak.

EATONTOWN, NJ – Members of the Eatontown police and fire departments revived a two-week-old infant during a fire at an apartment complex last week, authorities said.

According to a statement on the fire department’s Facebook page, the Eatontown Fire Department responded to a call for multiple alarms going off at the Lakeview Terrace apartment complex on Sept. 13.

During the investigation, first responders discovered a carbon monoxide leak and evacuated residents from the building. While performing the evacuation, a two-week-old infant exposed to carbon monoxide was found unconscious and unresponsive.

With paramedics were still on their way, members of the police and fire departments were able to revive the child successfully, the statement said. Paramedics then transported the child to Jersey Shore Medical Center.

"We have been told the infant's conditions continue to improve," the statement said. "A big thank you to the medics and Eatontown Police Department."
