Eatontown Man Arrested For Allegedly Robbing, Threatening To Kill 77-Year-Old Woman
Incident occurred at Stony Hill Apartments

An Eatontown man has been arrested for allegedly robbing and threatening to kill a 77-year-old female resident of the Stony Hill Apartments in the borough.
Jeremy Burton, 35, of Stony Hill Road was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an illegal purpose, terroristic threats and resisting arrest, all stemming from an incident which occurred on Tuesday, April 2 at 9 a.m.
Eatontown Police Det. Lawrence Tyler said Burton approached a 77-year-old woman in the apartment complex's parking lot and asked the woman for her cell phone and a ride. Tyler said Burton did not know the woman.

"When she refused Burton’s requests he pulled out a knife, grabbed the victim around the neck and threatened to stab her," Tyler said. "He then took her pocketbook, ran to her vehicle and tried to start her car."
Maintenance workers from the complex saw Burton in the vehicle and the victim yelling for help and they stopped Burton, contacted the police and held him until police arrived.

Officers Christie and Paulus arrived on the scene and took Burton into custody.
"Burton resisted the officers at the scene and then again at police headquarters," Tyler said.
Burton was processed at the Eatontown Police Department and was transported to Monmouth Medical Center at his request for a medical ailment. After being cleared he was transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institution and lodged on $27,500 bail with no ten percent, set by Judge George Cieri.
