Eatontown To Study Zoning Change at Old Orchard

The zoning change would make a large portion of the property open to commercial development.

The Eatontown Planning Board could potentially change the zoning of Old Orchard Country Club to make it possible for commercial development to be built along its Route 36 corridor, according to a report from the Asbury Park Press.

Between 300,000 and 450,000 square feet of commercial development would be located on 50 to 60 acres that fronts on Route 36, which currently zoned for 100 units of residential housing. The remainder of the property north of Turtle Mill Creek, between 75 to 80 acres, would be preserved as open space, the report states.

The Planning Board gave Borough Planner Richard Kramer the OK to study this proposal during at its Oct. 28 meeting. The board would have to vote on the plan to amend the borough's master plan and the Eatontown Council would have to vote on a zoning ordinance, the article states.
