TINTON FALLS, NJ - Tinton Falls resident Ellen Goldberg has announced that she will be running for Mayor of Tinton Falls in the November general election. Goldberg will be running against incumbent mayor Vito Perillo and Michael Mills.

Goldberg decided to run because she felt it was time to bring a fresh and dynamic voice to the Tinton Falls community.

"I can bring the energy and long-term commitment when we need it the most. My husband Jay and I have lived in Tinton Falls for over 32 years. We raised our two sons, Josh and Jeremy, who attended and graduated from the Tinton Falls school system,” Goldberg said in a statement.

“Whether it's picking up trash in my neighborhood, volunteering at my temple, cleaning the beaches, or my years of teaching, I have always given 100% to make my community a better place to live. As mayor, I plan to do even more to improve our quality of life for many years to come while keeping our town's expenses down and taxes affordable."

A retired educator in Edison for over three decades, Goldberg currently teaches religious education at Monmouth Reform Temple and Sisterhood Co-President. Goldberg is also a longtime member of the Tinton Falls Environmental Commission and a board member with the Tinton Falls library and has organized several fundraisers to reopen the library.

Another reason for Goldberg’s decision to run was that she would like to see more state aid come to Tinton Falls.

"Our local government must work smarter with our county and state legislative officials to bring the tax dollars we pay to Trenton back to Tinton Falls,” Goldberg said.

“I believe this situation can be rectified, and by reallocating state funds back into Tinton Falls, we can invest in the future of our town."
