Friend Of Murdered Long Branch Family Sets Up Fund For Funerals

LONG BRANCH, NJ - One day the Kologi family of Long Branch were alive and well. Today, New Year's Day, they are gone.

Linda and Steven Kologi, their daughter Brittany and a family friend died on New Year's Eve, when authorities say they were gunned down by their 16-year-old son with a semi-assault rifle.

"Linda, Steven, and Brittany were all beautiful people with the kindest hearts you could imagine," their friend Brian Yunker of West Long Branch wrote. "They were sadly taken from us on New Year's Eve. As a close friend of the Kologi family, I am reaching out for help for the funeral expenses. All donations will go directly to a proper burial. Thank you all for the support."

So far, $5,972 of the $20,000 goal has been raised in three hours by 115 people.
