June Deaths Of Two Long Branch Men Ruled A Murder-Suicide

Both Gerald Scarano and Harold Kelly died of gunshot wounds, Monmouth Prosecutor says

LONG BRANCH, NJ - The deaths of two men who were found in an Ocean Boulevard back in June have been ruled a murder-suicide, a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said.

Gerald Scarano, 63, died of a single shotgun wound to the neck. Harold Kelly, 48, died of a gunshot wound to the neck/facial area, said spokesman Christopher Swendeman.

Scarano was the victim. The incident took place in a living room area, he said.

The two men shared a home at 336 Ocean Boulevard. Long Branch officers responded to a call on the night of June 12 to check on the well-being of a person at the home. They discovered the bodies of the two men.

"We do not have any information about their relationship other than that the two men lived together, Swendeman said.

Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni and Long Branch Police Department Chief Jason Roebuck said at the time they considered the deaths an "isolated incident" and said that there is no threat to the public.
