Long Branch Mayor-Elect John Pallone Hospitalized After Victory

Pallone was stricken on Election Day and is in Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

LONG BRANCH, NJ - John Pallone didn't have much of a chance to celebrate his decisive victory for the mayor's seat over longtime Mayor Adam Schneider.

His campaign manager Mitch Seim has confirmed that the 62-year-old City Councilman was hospitalized at Jersey Shore University Medical Center on Tuesday, according to a report in app.com.

More Monmouth Musings, which first had the story, said Pallone's running mate announced Pallone's health problems at a campaign party last night at the Italian American Club.

Pallone trounced Schneider, who has been mayor since 1990, in yesterday's election. He received almost twice as many votes as Schneider in the race for the mayoral term in Tuesday's nonpartisan elections, according to the Monmouth County Clerk's Office.

Pallone received 2,908 votes, or 61.62 percent, compared to Schneider, who received 1,549 votes, or 32.82 percent. Candidate Avery Grant received 257 votes, or 5.45 percent.
