Long Branch's Fireworks Postponed

City officals made the decisions after seeing social media updates for another gathering similar to what occurred on June 19.

LONG BRANCH, NJ – Just a few days after a social media-fueled party that saw four people get arrested and thousands of people show up to the Long Branch beachfront; city officials made the decision to postpone the fireworks show originally planned for July 4.

In a statement on the city’s website, Domingos A. Saldida, the city’s Director of Public Safety, decided after speaking with local and state officials after social media posts began to circulate for another event on July 3.

“Our Public Safety Director has been in contact with state and county law enforcement officials,” the statement said.

“He has made the decision that this postponement is in the best interest of our residents and businesses.”

The city will be announcing the make-up date for the fireworks in the future.
