Moderate Rip Current Risk, Cloudy Skies At Monmouth Beaches

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ - The weather forecast for Monmouth County beaches is getting a little monotonous.

The National Weather Service is again calling for mostly cloudy skies today. Highs will be in the upper 70s, with winds from the east at 10 miles per hour. There is no lightning threat.

But the rip current risk is still moderate, as it has been for most of the past week. Be sure to check with your local beach patrol for trouble spots before heading into the water. Rip currents can occur anywhere, anytime. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. Too many people have died in the ocean this summer. Don't add your name to the list.

Waves today will be around 3 feet high, with southeasterly swells of 3 feet. The ocean water temperature is 75 degrees, but that could vary depending upon beach you go to.

The ultraviolet index is a 7, which the NWS considers high. You can still burn, so don't forget the sunscreen.

High tide at Belmar arrived at 10:21 a.m. Low tide will roll in at 4:16 p.m., followed by another high tide at 10:28 p.m.
