Monmouth Mall To Get $500 Million Makeover
Eatontown Planning Board approves "The Heights At Monmouth," a combo of apartments and retail, and some residents aren't happy.
EATONTOWN, NJ – The Planning Board has approved "The Heights at Monmouth" to eventually replace the current Monmouth Mall, which dates back to 1960.
The board voted 7 to 1 on Monday to approve a $500 million plan by Kushner Companies and Brookfield Properties that will include 700 rental apartments, dining and entertainment, medical facilities and retail space, according to nj.com.
But some residents are not happy with the plans. They claim it is too dense, too tall and too urban. They have their own Facebook page "Eatontown Residents For A Greater Mall."

Residents didn't want any apartments. But if they are built, they should be built on top of the mall, not off to the side, or on Route 35 or Route 36. The height and the density should be reduced and the buffer increased, the Facebook page states.
