Rip Current Risk Drops, But Surf Still Rough
Waves today will be from five to six feet, National Weather Service says.

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ - For the first time in nearly a week, the rip current risk on Monmouth County beaches has dropped from high to moderate.
But that doesn't mean you can let your guard down. Rip currents are possible anytime, anyplace. Always check with your local beach patrol for problem areas. Never, ever swim on an unguarded beach and never swim alone or at night. Too many people have drowned in the ocean this summer. Don't add your name to the list.
Even though the rip current risk has dropped slightly, the surf will still be choppy. Waves of 5 to 6 feet are predicted, with southeasterly swells of 4 to 5 feet. The ocean water temperature is 73 degrees. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you in the water.
