Thunderstorms And Showers Likely At Monmouth Beaches Today

Wave heights will be around 3 feet, ocean temperatures still a little chilly.

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ - Scattered thunderstorms are possible at Monmouth County beaches today, ahead of the heat wave expected over the weekend and into next week, the National Weather Service says.

Skies will be partly sunny. Highs today will be in the upper 70s. Winds will be from the south at 10 miles per hour. The lightning threat is high, which means thunderstorms are likely or expected.

There's also a moderate threat of rip currents. Check with your local beach patrol about surf conditions before you go into the water. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. Don't be a statistic this summer. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you.
