Tinton Falls Teen Hits, Kills Cyclist In Accidental Crash: Prosecutor

An 18-year-old Tinton Falls young man hit and killed a man riding a bike Saturday night in West Long Branch. The teen remained at the scene.

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ — An 18-year-old Tinton Falls man driving a 2018 Range Rover hit and killed a man riding a bicycle Saturday night in West Long Branch, said Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago.

However, because the teen remained at the scene of the crash, no charges were filed. The collision appears to be an accident.

The man on the bike was identified as John Martin, 55, a resident of Long Branch.

Shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, West Long Branch Police responded to the intersection of Rt. 36 and Monmouth Road for a report of a car hitting a bicycle. Martin was rushed to Monmouth Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

The teen boy remained on the scene. No charges or summonses were filed.
