Long Branch's Morris Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic for one week so Monmouth County crews can repair a water main leak.
“Inspections revealed a water main leak caused damage to a County culvert under Morris Avenue,” Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone said in a release. “To complete the repair, the roadway must be closed to all vehicle traffic.”

Morris Avenue will be closed between Division Street and Broadway and the work is anticipated to be completed by the "close of business" on June 28, according to a county news release.

“The County understands the inconvenience that this closure will have on the motoring public in the area,” Arnone said in the release. “Our main concern is for the safety of the travelling public and all efforts will be made to maintain traffic flow in that area during repairs.”
The road will be open to local traffic, but there will be no throughway in the area of the culvert. Detours will also be posted until the work is finished.
