6 Lives Saved By First Responders In Long Valley Last Year
Washington Township first responders carried the lifesaving medications Narcan and EpiPens in 2018— and put them to use.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Six lives were saved by Washington Township first responders during medical emergencies in 2018, including opioid overdose and allergy attack reversals.
Washington Township police administered 11 doses of the opioid overdose reversal medication Narcan during 2018, police said. Sadly, not all the revival attempts were successful.
The 11 doses were given to five different people during five separate calls, police said. Three people were revived, but two died, police said.

2018 was the first year EMTs began carrying EpiPens, an allergic reaction-reversing medication. The life of one person was saved when an EpiPen was used to stop an allergic reaction, police said.
Additionally, police saved the lives of two people in Washington Township through CPR. They also taught others how to save lives: 222 people were trained in CPR by Washington Township police in 2018.
