$700K Transportation Grant Application To Be Discussed In Long Valley

Washington Township officials will discuss the $700,000 grant application at tonight's township committee meeting.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — A resolution authorizing the submission of an application for a $700,000 grant for funding for a sidewalk project in Long Valley will be discussed at tonight's committee meeting.

If awarded the grant the township would use the funds to create a pedestrian and bicycle trail and sidewalk project with a scenic overlook within Washington Township, according to the meeting agenda.

The trail will contribute to ongoing efforts to improve pedestrian and bicycle access and safety for Flocktown and Kossman Schools, as well as Harrington Park. The chosen project also includes accessibility enhancements for people with disabilities.

The project includes improvements to Patriot's Path as well as new trails and sidewalks that will improve the connectivity of county and municipal trail systems, according to officials.

Washington Township will be responsible for maintaining the improvements once they are built, with the exception of any County Trails that are located within county easements or on Board of Education property, the resolution states.
