Applications Available For Long Valley Affordable Housing

Morris Habitat for Humanity is seeking applicants and hosting mandatory meetings about affordable Washington Township homes.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — For people who dream of owning their own home and are income-eligible, they could have their opportunity for home ownership through Morris Habitat for Humanity.

Homes, which are planned for Settlers Ridge Court in Washington Township, are four-bedroom and two-bath, with Energy Star certified features, as well as septic and public water. The organization says the sale price will be no more than $267,000.

As part of the Habitat for Humanity program, there’s an affordable 30-year mortgage that Morris Habitat holds, with a 30-year deed restriction that mandates homes be sold to a fellow income-eligible homeowner, if it goes on the market within the 30 years.

“These workshops are terrific opportunities for hardworking, lower income families to learn how they can reach their dream of homeownership within their budget,” said the organization’s CEO, Blair Schleicher Wilson. “We invite everyone to learn how they can qualify.”

In mid-June, Washington Township Mayor Matt Murello joined Habitat for Humanity for a “Hammer For Habitat 2021” ceremonial event, where the first walls were built and volunteers - including Murello - signed off on them with a “welcome” message to the future homeowners.
