Burglars Force Entry Into Long Valley Home: Police

The Washington Township Police Department stated that it appears that the property was specifically targeted.

LONG VALLEY, NJ β€” An attempted home burglary was reported on Warwick Drive, according to the Washington Township Police Department blotter.

On Friday afternoon, officers responded to a residential burglary in progress on Warwick Drive; however, when they arrived at the scene, the suspects had already fled the immediate area.

According to authorities, the suspects forced entry into the township home, and police believe that the home was specifically targeted.

County officials have asked residents to keep all vehicles locked, along with all home windows and doors. If a home is equipped with a security system, residents should keep it activated at all times.

Local authorities have encouraged anyone who observed unfamiliar vehicles or suspicious activities on Warwick Dr. between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. to call Washington Township Police Department detectives.

On Jan. 25, patrol officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Naughright Road after spotting several traffic offenses.

During the stop, police determined that the driver, a 29-year-old West New York man, presented fraudulent documents and did not possess a valid driver's license.

The driver, who was not named publicly, was arrested and charged with presenting fraudulent documents as well as numerous motor vehicle violations.

According to the police, he was processed and released pending his initial court appearance.

On Jan. 28, police responded to an Old Farmers Road residence for an assault in progress. Upon arrival, the officers identified the victim, who had sustained major lacerations to his head after being repeatedly assaulted with an item.

Following an investigation, police arrested a 27-year-old Long Valley man at the scene and charged him with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.

The victim was ultimately taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. No update was available on their current condition.

The defendant, who had not been identified by police, was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility.
