As Farm Traffic Revs Up, Chester Main Street Parking Restrictions Begin

Fall weather brings visitors from all over to western Morris County.

Crisp air, falling leaves, and beautiful scenery.

Oh, and the traffic. By golly, the traffic.

Western Morris County has married the two – autumn and congested roadways – in recent years, as locals and out out-of-towners alike flock to the beautiful farm attractions in Mendham, Chester, and Long Valley.

On Wednesday, Chester Borough Police announced for the second straight year a new parking initiative that will alternate restrictions each weekend during the busy fall weekends.

For Sept. 19 and 20, Main Street in Chester will have parking restrictions on the south side of the roadway from Taylor’s Ice Cream Parlor to Warren Street. The following weekend restrictions will be in place on the north side of Main Street.

The rules were put into effect specifically for the ease of emergency vehicles to get through during busy weekends in the area.
