Free Rabies Clinic Planned For Jan. 16 In Long Valley

The clinic, which will take place at 54 Rock Rd. in Long Valley, will be open to New Jersey residents on Jan. 16.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — The Washington Township Health Department will host a free rabies clinic Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021. According to township officials, the clinic is open to any New Jersey resident and will be held at the DPW building located at 54 Rock Rd. in Long Valley.

The health department is only taking appointments for the clinic this year. An appointment must be made by calling the health department at 908-876-3650.

Anyone interested in taking advantage of the clinic will be asked to give their name, cell phone number, email address and indicate how many pets they will be bringing for vaccination.

"We feel that this will reduce contact with other residents by allowing only a certain number of people in the building at one time," township officials said in a news release. "Every person attending the clinic must be wearing a mask. Anyone without a mask will forfeit their appointment."

As participants wait for their pet's vaccination, township officials said temperature checks will be taken. Pet owners will also be asked to fill out a COVID-19 questionnaire regarding their current health. As a result, guests are asked to bring a pen or pencil with them.

There will not be an opportunity for Washington Township residents to license their pets at the clinic this year. Pet owners must still license their dogs and cats during the month of January, but township officials said it must be done either by mail or by dropping off paperwork and payment in the foyer of the municipal building.
