Gingerbread House-Making Contest Open For All Long Valley Residents
The annual holiday contest registration opens on Nov. 14, and the public can view the entries on Dec. 4.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — If you enjoy decorating gingerbread houses during the holidays, this could be the event for you. This holiday season, the Long Valley Junior Women's Club is hosting a contest where you can demonstrate your creativity and Gingerbread skills.
The contest, part of Long Valley's "Holiday Happenings," is open to area families, children, local groups, adults, and seniors, with all gingerbread houses going on display in Faith Hall at Zion Lutheran Church on 11 Schooleys Mountain Road from 3 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 4.
All local families are welcome to participate in this contest, which is free to enter. The winners in each category will receive prizes. Registration will start on Nov. 14 and homes must be delivered by Dec. 3.

Houses will be judged for their originality and creativity of the design and theme; the best use of candy and cookies; the overall appearances of the houses; and the complexity of the designs.
The Holiday Season officially begins on Dec. 4 with Long Valley's annual Holiday Happenings celebration, which features free activities for the whole family to enjoy.

On lower Schooley's Mountain Road, the activities will take place between 3 and 5 p.m. at a number of establishments, including The Coffee Potter, Racks Valley Boutique, Homework Helpers and Washington Township's Historical Museum.
This year's events will feature a visit from Santa, fun take-home craft kits, karate demonstrations, story time with Ms. Amanda from WTPL, letters to Santa and more, along with plenty of treats and giveaways.
The festivities conclude at 6 p.m. with the Annual Tree Lighting in front of the Church, followed by the event that every child looks forward to… Santa's annual tractor parade down Schooley's Mountain Road.
