Long Valley Bicyclist Hit By Car, Flown To Hospital: Cops

Man was traveling westbound on Route 46 Monday afternoon when he was struck, police report.

LONG VALLEY, N.J. – A Long Valley man was taken to Morristown Medical Center with chest injuries Monday afternoon after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle, Mt. Olive Township Police sai.

Police responded to Route 46 in the area of the Budd Lake Fire Department for a report of a bicyclist struck by a motor vehicle, police said. When police arrived they found the man, a 54-year-old from Long Valley, was receiving treatment from members of the Budd Lake First Aid Squad.

The victim was traveling west in the right lane of travel when he was struck by a white Chevrolet, which was also traveling west in the right lane of travel, police said.

The bicyclist was treated for chest injuries and taken to Morristown Medical Center by helicopter. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was uninjured in the crash.

Police have not released the names of either party.
