Long Valley Driver Tried Passing Car, Crashed Into Pole On Schooley's Mtn.: Cops
Road was closed near Cataract Park for more than two hours Sunday, police report.
A Long Valley man was uninjured but caused much damage to his car and a utility pole on Schooley’s Mountain Road Sunday afternoon, Lt. Doug Compton said.
Police received a call at 3:42 p.m. of a single-car crash on Schooley’s Mountain Road near Cataract Park with the driver outside the vehicle, Compton said.
When Cpl. Adam Feichter and Cpl. Kirk Griffin arrived they found Warren Ferrante, 26, was traveling south on Schooley’s Mountain Road when he attempted to pass another vehicle, Compton said. Ferrante lost control of the car, crossed over the double yellow lines into the northbound lane, and off the roadway where he struck a utility pole and sheered it at the base, Compton said.

The vehicle came to a stop on its side and the road was closed for more than two hours while JCP&L crews responded and replaced the pole.
Ferrante was assessed at the scene by the Long Valley First Aid Squad and refused further medical attention. He was issued a motor vehicle complaint for careless driving and driving with an expired driver’s license.
