Long Valley Gingerbread Contest Returns - Virtually

LONG VALLEY, NJ - The Long Valley Junior Women’s Club’s Annual Gingerbread House Contest is keeping their holiday tradition alive by going virtual for 2020.

The contest is open to all families and adults in the Long Valley area who would like to build and share their gingerbread house creation with the community via the LVJWC Facebook page. Participants will be asked to document their creation with various photos as outlined in the rules and email those photos by the 5 p.m., Dec. 5 deadline.

Your creation can be submitted in one of four categories including:

  • Children 7-12
  • Children 12-17
  • Families and Adults (must include one Adult 18+ and one child 7+).
  • Adult

In the past, some families have even submitted multiple entries which is always welcomed, officials said. Houses will be assigned a number and evaluated anonymously by a panel of judges. Ribbons and prizes donated by local sponsors will be awarded to the top entries in each category.

Want to join in a little holiday fun and view all the wonderful gingerbread house creations? Then visit the LVJWC Facebook page on Dec. 6 when all entries photos will be posted and the winners of each category will be announced.

The public is also invited to VOTE for their overall favorite house to win the People’s Choice Award so be sure to stop by Facebook.com/LongValleyJuniors between Dec. 6 and 5 p.m. on Dec. 12.

For anyone interested in seeing some of the houses in person, the winners of each category will be displayed in the Racks Valley Boutique store windows between Dec. 6 and Dec. 20.

Racks Valley Boutique is a Non-Profit Thrift Boutique run by the Long Valley Junior Women’s Club and sales proceeds are donated back into Community programs such as the schools, mental health awareness, emergency services, college scholarships, the Long Valley Food Pantry and more.
