Long Valley Launches Holiday Light Fight

It is time to get cracking on a house that will put Clark Griswold to shame.

LONG VALLEY, NJ - Dig out your holiday lights, blowups, reindeer, and decorations because the newest Washington Township tradition is about to start a β€œHoliday Home Decorating Contest.”

Decorate your home front yard or business in the most creative or festive way possible.

"I'm really looking forward to being one of the judges to the first Washington Township Holiday Light Fight this holiday season," Washington Township Mayor Matt Murello said.

Participation is opened to all residents and businesses within Washington Township, Long Valley. Winners will be announced at a special brief award ceremony scheduled for 4 p.m. Dec. 12 at Rock Spring Park Pavilion with a rain date of Dec. 13. Winners will be presented with a signage and a prize.

While the event will require social distancing and face coverings, it will also feature a visit from Santa for some hot chocolate and cookies. The program will also include caroling from our local Township group.

To compete in this contest, an entry form showing intent to participate must be completed, signed, and submitted to Washington Township Recreation, no later than 2 p.m. on Nov. 30.
