No Decision Yet On Masks For September at West Morris Central HS
Will West Morris Central High School students be able to unmask in September? Superintendent says the district is watching state guidance.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — With Governor Phil Murphy’s announcement on Monday that school districts can choose whether or not masks will be required when students return to school in the fall, West Morris Central High School’s superintendent said no decision has been made yet whether or not students will have a mask-optional experience when schools start up again in September.
Michael Ben-David, the superintendent of the West Morris Regional High School District, said he’s waiting on the next steps whether or not Washington Township students will have the choice to unmask.
“We will see how guidance evolves over the coming weeks,” Ben-David told Patch.

Murphy made the announcement, unveiling the New Jersey Department of Education’s “The Road Forward Health and Safety Guidance for the 2021-2022 School Year” document, which replaces Murphy’s Executive Order 175 from March 2020, as well as protocols New Jersey schools used during the 2020-2021 school year.
