Over 2K Without Power In Morris County After Transformer Fire

2,453 customers are without electricity in Morris County, according to JCP&L. Over 2,200 residences are out of power in Mount Olive.

MOUNT OLIVE, NJ – As of 6 a.m. Wednesday, over 2,400 customers are without electricity in Morris County, according to JCP&L. Mount Olive is one of the hardest hit, with 2,270 (18.31% of township customers) affected Wednesday morning.

About 140 residences in Montville were also affected by the outage, as well as 25 customers in Morris Township.

The power outages come as several rounds of storms on Monday and Tuesday slammed the region with around 1.2 inches of rainfall, according to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Wednesday is set to see additional rainfall, per forecasters from the National Weather Service.

The outages also come following a transformer fire in Mount Olive on Route 206 northbound north of CR 612/Flanders Road.

For those affected by the outages, power is expected to be restored by 10 a.m., per JCP&L.
