PARCC Breakdown: How Did Long Valley Students Score On Standardized Test?

Majority of Washington Twp. students in grades three through eight scored proficient or higher in 2014-15.

LONG VALLEY, N.J. – The majority of students in Washington Township’s elementary and middle school grades who took the PARCC exams in 2014 and 2015 are proficient or above, according to the state’s results released this week.

PARCC, the nationwide exam testing students in grades three through 11 in English or Language Arts and Math, is broken down into five proficiency levels, with scores ranging from 650 to 850.

In English, the five levels are broken down as follows:

  • Level 1, Not Yet Meeting Expectations: 650 -700
  • Level 2, Partially Meeting Expectations: 700 – 725
  • Level 3, Approaching Expectations: 725 – 750
  • Level 4, Meeting Expectations: 750 – 803
  • Level 5, Exceeding Expectations: 803 – 850

Patch took the New Jersey Department of Education’s data for English test scores and broke it down by district. The following includes Washington Township’s test takers’ results in grades three through eight (students enter the West Morris Regional High School District in grade nine).

Below is each grade’s total number of students, number of those who did not take the test, valid test scores recorded, district-wide average, and percentage of students who scored in each of the five proficiency levels.
