Parents Invited To Upcoming School District Meeting In Long Valley

Washington Township Schools is continuing its "Coffee and Chat" meetings, where parents can meet with officials for an hour of conversation.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — As part of the district's effort to maintain transparency with parents, all parents are invited to meet with a variety of Washington Township School District officials this month to discuss various topics.

The district will keep the "Coffee and Chat" meeting program going in order to better inform all parents about what is going on in the district. Deborah Russo, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and Denise Scairpon, Director of Special Education and Related Services, will host the meetings.

All scheduled meetings will begin at 9 a.m. in the Long Valley Middle School Performing Arts Center, according to officials.

The first meeting was held last week, during which officials discussed the contentious issue of school curriculum as well as expectations for the new school year.

The next meeting, which is scheduled for Nov. 30 will be focused on local assessments and different areas of progress monitoring, along with the importance of the PLAAFP and progress monitoring in special education.

The other pre-scheduled meetings are as follows:

  • Jan. 11: Elementary to Middle school and middle school to West Morris transitions. What to expect from your case managers.
  • Feb. 15: Special Education Parent Advisory Group- What is it and how it supports special education.
  • March 15: The Annual Review Process in Special Education and Co-teaching to promote student growth and achievement.
