Police Looking For Car Reported Stolen In Long Valley

A resident told police the vehicle was taken from their driveway overnight, while other residents also said two men broke into their cars.

LONG VALLEY, NJ β€” The Washington Township Police Department is seeking help from residents who may have any information about a car taken from another resident’s driveway early Monday morning.

The police department stated that a resident on Old Farmers Road contacted them on Monday morning to report that their blue 2021 GMC Yukon had been taken sometime overnight between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m., the key fob left inside the car.

Washington Township Police Chief Jeffrey Almer also said in a news release that several other residents on North Washington Valley Road reported their cars had been β€œransacked” overnight Monday, with one resident capturing footage from their Ring camera at about 2:30 a.m., of two men wearing surgical masks and hooded sweatshirts rummaging through their unlocked car.

Police are asking any residents with more footage or information about the car theft and the people entering the unlocked cars, to contact Washington Township Police at 908-876-3232.

In nearby towns, there have been other recent issues with car thefts and burglaries, including the Chester Police Department having received 14 separate calls about car burglaries and thefts on July 24, impacting a total of 19 different vehicles in one neighborhood.

In Mendham Township on July 16, four women from Newark were charged with a car theft attempt, after they had taken off with a car from the Brookrace section of the township, Peapack and Gladstone Police later apprehending them.
