Public Invited To 'Coffee Chats' With Long Valley District Officials

Washington Township Schools will host "Coffee and Chat" meetings where parents can engage in hour-long discussions with district officials.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Parents are invited to meet with a variety of Washington Township School District officials to discuss various topics throughout the year.

The district will be hosting the "Coffee and Chat" meeting as a way to create more transparency between the district and parents and will be hosted by Deborah Russo, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and Denise Scairpon, Director of Special Education and Related services.

All five of the scheduled meetings will be held at 9 a.m. in the Long Valley Middle School Performing Arts Center, officials said.

The first meeting, which will cover curriculum expectations and the use of Intervention program materials, as well as special education updates and focus areas for the 2022-2023 school year is scheduled for Oct. 26.

  • Nov. 30: Local Assessments & Progress Monitoring, The Importance of the PLAAFP and Progress Monitoring in Special Education.
  • Jan. 11: Elementary to Middle school and middle school to West Morris transitions. What to expect from your case managers.
  • Feb. 15: Special Education Parent Advisory Group- What is it and how it supports special education.
  • March 15: The Annual Review Process in Special Education and Co-teaching to promote student growth and achievement.
