Olympian Charged With Attempted Murder In Long Valley: MCPO
An Olympic equestrian has been charged with two counts of attempted murder following a shooting at his barn, Morris County Prosecutor said.

LONG VALLEY, NJ β An Olympic equestrian has been charged with two counts of attempted murder following a shooting at his elite stables on Wednesday, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp said.
Michael Barisone, 54, has been charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses following the Wednesday afternoon shooting at Barisone Dressage (411 West Mill Road in Long Valley), authorities said.
Authorities said a female sustained "multiple" gunshot wounds during the incident. A second male victim as well as Barisone were there when authorities arrived, the prosecutor said. A handgun was also found.

The shooting happened around 2:15 p.m., Knapp said.
Rosanna Williams, a friend of the victim, told Patch that the woman was shot twice in the chest. The woman's fiance was also injured; he suffered a broken wrist, Williams said. The victim trained underneath Barisone at his dressage facility, Williams said.

Officials did not say what prompted the shooting.
Calls and text messages sent to Barisone were not returned Thursday afternoon. It's not clear if he has a lawyer at this point. The stable has not shared any updates on their social media pages.
In addition to his own Olympic career at the 2008 Games in Beijing, Barisone trained 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Allison Brock.
A representative for SafeSport, the agency that oversees abuse complaints in national athletic federations, declined to comment when asked if there were any complaints made at Barisone Dressage, citing a policy not to confirm or comment on investigations. Officials for United States Equestrian Federation also declined to comment.
