Shredding, Recycling Event This Spring In Long Valley
Residents can take advantage of this free and secure way to dispose of personal documents on May 6 in Long Valley.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — It's that time of year again for Long Valley residents to do some spring cleaning, and document shredding is back.
On May 6, Long Valley residents will be able to dispose of their unwanted papers. This event is only open to Washington Township residents. Evidence of residency will be required.
A total of six boxes are permitted per household at the shred event. Three banker-size boxes will be provided to residents for free. Three additional banker-size boxes are allowed at a cost of $10.00 each.

The six-box limit will be strictly enforced, officials said.
Each box brought to the shred event must have a sticker, which can be obtained beginning May 1 at the DPW office, 54 Rock Road, Long Valley, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

It is not necessary to remove staples; however, paper clips and plastic binders must be removed.
Unacceptable items include magazines, books, junk mail, shredded paper and garbage. In addition, plastic bags should not be included in the shredding but paper grocery bags are permitted.
Washington Township is also offering computer and electronics recycling for local residents on May 6.
Accepted items include televisions, computers, tablets, laptops, printers, fax machines, computer components, power cords, keyboards, speakers, routers, docking stations, modems, copiers, toner/ink cartridges, Blu-ray players, VCRs, cable boxes, cell phones, answering machines, gaming consoles, cameras, remote controls and typewriters.
Items that won’t be accepted include microwaves, air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, toaster/toaster ovens, vacuums, leaf blowers, dehumidifiers, coffee pots/makers, radios, garage door openers and anything containing gas or oil.
